Services

The Mayor's Office for International Affairs provides critical services and information that assist the diplomatic and consular community in accomplishing its important work. Our services include responding to diplomatic incidents and emergency situations, administering the City of New York/ U.S. Department of State Diplomatic and Consular Parking Program, and managing requests from foreign governments, the United Nations, and the U.S. Department of State.

  • The Office oversees the City's Flag Policy, mayoral gifts, and the presentation of the Key to the City as designated by the Mayor. We also provide protocol guidance to City agencies and the public.
  • Foreign government officials, the consular corps, the Permanent Missions to the United Nations, and international organizations can also contact our office to request a meeting with the Mayor, to invite the Mayor to an event, or to request a Mayoral letter or proclamation. Please send these requests by e-mail to the Mayor's Office for International Affairs.
  • In addition, the Office works with the New York Police Department, the Department of State, the U.S. Secret Service, the United Nations and other partners to ensure the safety of all New Yorkers during the high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly each September, and during other occasions year-round.
