Nominations Announced for "Made in NY" Films and Series

January 5, 2015 - Award season is underway, and a number of “Made in NY” productions have been recognized with nominations for their achievements.

The Screen Actors Guild has nominated Birdman, which picked up nominations for Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Emma Stone, and the entire ensemble while Julianne Moore was recognized for her leading role in Still Alice with a nomination.

In television, Boardwalk Empire received SAG Award nominations for Steve Buscemi, its ensemble, and its stunt ensemble. Uzo Aduba and the ensemble of Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black were recognized with nominations. The Good Wife’s Julianna Margulies was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

Louis C.K., a 2014 “Made in NY” Award honoree, received a nomination for his role on Louie while Edie Falco was recognized with a nomination for her role on Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. In the television movie or miniseries categories, Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts were nominated for their roles in the HBO film The Normal Heart. The ceremony takes place on January 25.

The Producers Guild of America honored its members with nominations for the following “Made in NY” shows: Louie (FX), Orange Is the New Black (Netflix), Project Runway (Lifetime), The Colbert Report (Comedy Central), Last Week with John Oliver (HBO), and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (NBC). Birdman and The Normal Heart are also up for consideration. The awards will be presented on January 24.

Among the “Made in NY” shows nominated for the Writers Guild Awards are: Boardwalk Empire, The Good Wife, Louie, Orange Is the New Black, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, Inside Amy Schumer, The Colbert Report, Saturday Night Live, and The 68th Annual Tony Awards. The Affair and The Knick were nominated in the New Series category. The awards will be handed out on February 14.
