Lakesha Miller was appointed Executive Vice President of Leased Housing at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in January 2018. In this capacity, Ms. Miller provides oversight and strategic guidance as the leader of NYCHA’s Section 8 Leased Housing program. The largest program of its kind in the country, NYCHA’s Section 8 program provides federally funded rent subsidy payments for approximately 235,000 low-income Section 8 tenants to more than 30,000 participating private landlords. In leading and directing the program, Ms. Miller manages operating and subsidy budgets of more than $1 billion, ensuring that policy and objectives are consistent with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations.

Ms. Miller joined NYCHA in 2012, serving first as Deputy Director, then Director of Client Services, and most recently as Vice President of the Leased Housing Department, where she evaluated operations and created innovative solutions for greater efficiency and service delivery. Prior to that, her broad public- and private-sector housing industry experience included property management operations, advisement on federal housing policies and regulations, and compliance assessment with HUD and tax credit eligibility at Marathon Development Group, in Peekskill, NY; Quadel Consulting Corporation in Washington, D.C.; and NY Quadel, in New York, NY.

Ms. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in human relations from Pace University and a Masters of Arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix.
