NYCHA ANNOUNCES ROBIN LEVINE AS NEW CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

New CCO is former City Council Communications Director. She will be supported by her new Deputy, Jasmine Blake, NYCHA’s Press Secretary.

New York – Today, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) announced Robin Levine as the Authority’s new Chief Communications Officer. Levine will join the Authority from the New York City Council, where she held the position of Communications Director for New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson and the entire Council. She will assume her new role on April 9.

As Chief Communications Officer, Levine hopes to step in to help NYCHA construct a stronger proactive voice on the many positive stories taking place throughout the Authority. She will lead NYCHA’s Department of Communications and develop and execute a strategic communications plan for the Authority. She will be also responsible for disseminating information to the media, residents, employees, elected officials, and the general public. Levine will succeed former Chief Communications Officer, Jean Weinberg.

“Robin’s communications experience and deep knowledge of our City’s government will prove a tremendous asset as we continue working urgently to improve the lives of the 1 in 14 New Yorkers that call NYCHA home,” said NYCHA Chair and CEO Shola Olatoye. “I am excited to bring Robin on board, and I know that she will be a great addition to our leadership team.”

“At a time when public housing is under attack across the country, I’m honored to be joining the New York City Housing Authority to help protect and defend public housing residents,” said Robin Levine, Incoming Chief Communications Officer. “I look forward to working with Chair Olatoye to share the stories of the hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers living in NYCHA developments and I thank the Mayor’s Administration for trusting me in this important role.”

A native Brooklynite, Levine holds a bachelor’s degree in Media Studies and Anthropology from SUNY Purchase.

Acting Press Secretary Jasmine Blake will be promoted to the role of Deputy Chief Communications Officer. Alongside Levine, Blake will work on developing and implementing strategic communications for the Authority. In her current role as Press Secretary, Blake has directed and overseen NYCHA’s strategic response and messaging during the recent lead and heat problems facing the Authority.
