If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic or gender-based violence:

  • Call 311 to be connected to the nearest NYC Family Justice Center

  • Find resources and support in NYC by searching the City's NYC HOPE Resource Directory

  • Call the City's 24-hour Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-621-HOPE (1-800-621-4673) for immediate safety planning, shelter assistance, and other resources. TTY: 1-866-604-5350

You can also walk into any New York City Family Justice Center to receive FREE and CONFIDENTIAL assistance for victims/survivors of intimate partner violence, sex trafficking and elder abuse. All Centers are open Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointment is needed.

NYC Family Justice Centers

New York City Family Justice Centers (FJCs) provide comprehensive safety planning, case management, counseling, criminal justice and civil legal advocacy, and supportive services for survivors of domestic violence, elder abuse and sex trafficking. Located in all five boroughs, FJCs are safe, caring environments that provide one-stop services and support. Key City agencies, community, social and civil legal services providers, and District Attorney's Offices are located on-site at FJCs, to make it easier for survivors to get help.

All are welcome regardless of language, income, gender identity, or immigration status. Spoken translation services are available on-site, and locations are wheelchair accessible. Call ahead to request other accommodations.

How Can the Family Justice Centers Help?

NYC Family Justice Centers can help you with:

  • Planning for your safety
  • Applying for public benefits, shelter, housing, and other support services and programs
  • Mental health and counseling services for you and your children to support emotional well-being
  • Referrals to job training and education programs, including educational workshops to help with budgeting, credit repair, resume writing, and interviewing skills
  • Legal help for orders of protection, custody, visitation, child support, divorce, housing, and immigration
  • Connecting to trained law enforcement, such as the NYPD, the NYC Sheriff’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office
  • Childcare for children age 3+ while you get services at the Family Justice Center
