Our office publishes research briefs and reports on a variety of topics related to domestic and gender-based violence periodically, to assist New Yorkers in understanding these issues and encourage further conversation.

2023

The Relationship Between Domestic Violence and Shooting Incidents in New York City (Issued December 2023) This report analyzes New York City Police Department (NYPD) domestic violence and shooting incidents across New York City (NYC) from 2017 to 2022. This report examines patterns of domestic violence reported to the NYPD and shooting incidents, individually and in relation to each other, across NYC’s 5 boroughs and 76 police precincts.

2022

Rates of Intimate Partner Violence Across New York City: An Intersectional Analysis (Issued September 2022) This report analyses the New York City Police Department's 2020 and 2021 intimate partner violence data across within and across New York City's 5 boroughs using race/ethnicity, gender, and location analyses. Additional analyses within and across NYC's 59 community districts are included in the Appendix of this report.
2020-21 Domestic Violence Race/Ethnicity and Sex Report (Issued September 2022) This report provides an updated analysis of the NYPD domestic violence related offenses data using data aggregated from the 2020 and 2021 incident reports.

COVID-19 Impact Survey for Survivors of Domestic Violence Report (Issued September 2021): A summary of survey results on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on domestic violence survivors in NYC.
The Intersection of Domestic Violence, Race/Ethnicity and Sex 2020 (Issued September 2021): This report provides an analysis of 2020 New York City Police Department domestic violence data across both race/ethnicity and sex of the victim.
Early Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (Early RAPP) Report (Issued July 2021). An analysis of the effectiveness of the Early RAPP Program that provides healthy relationship workshops to New York City middle school students.
Evaluation Summary Report: Emergency Financial Relief Microgrants Program for Survivors of Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (published May 2021): A summary of the evaluation conducted by the Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) on the emergency financial relief microgrants program for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.
2021 Survey and Convening Findings on Wellness from Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Service Providers During COVID-19 (Issued May 2021): An overview of NYC gender-based violence (GBV) service providers and staff, the impact of COVID-19 on their wellness, and the NYC Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) response to support providers and staff during the pandemic.
ENDGBV in Focus: Outreach Campaigns and Activities, 2018-2019 (Issued January 2021): An overview of the outreach and community engagement activities of ENDGBV's Outreach Coordinators in 2018-2019.

A Foundation Report: Family Violence (Issued July 2019): An overview of the issue of family violence, including local crime statistics and data from the New York City Family Justice Centers.
ENDGBV IN FOCUS: Survey findings from the New York City Healthy Relationship Training Academy – TechnoLOVE Workshop (Issued February 2019): A summary of the results from pre- and post-TechnoLOVE workshop surveys conducted by the New York City Healthy Relationship Training Academy.

Data Brief: Intimate Partner Homicide-Suicide in New York City, 2010-2017 (Issued October 2018): A descriptive analysis of NYC homicides in which an abusive partner murdered their current or former intimate partner and then died by suicide.
Intimate Partner Violence Disrupts Child Development and Impacts Non-Offending Parent's Ability to Parent (Issued April 2018): A fact sheet that outlines the impacts of intimate partner violence on child development and on the ability to parent.
OCDV IN FOCUS: A Closer Look at Foreign-Born Clients Visiting the New York City Family Justice Centers (Issued March 2018): An overview of the foreign-born client population of the Family Justice Centers showing that the majority of Family Justice Center clients are foreign-born and that the client base reflects the diversity of New York City's population.
OCDV IN FOCUS: Survey Findings from the New York City Healthy Relationship Training Academy - Differences by Participant Age and Gender (Issued February 2018): An analysis showing differences in performance on pre- and post-workshops surveys based on participant age and gender.

Intimate Partner Violence Traumatizes Children and Teens (Issued November 2017): A fact sheet geared toward educators about the effects of intimate partner violence in the home and the prevalence and impact of teen dating violence.
Data Brief: Domestic Violence Homicide Incidents in the Ten Largest U.S. Cities (Issued November 2017): An analysis of data from the FBI Supplementary Homicide Reports (2015) shows NYC had the lowest rate of domestic violence and intimate partner violence homicide incidents of the ten largest U.S. cities.
