Internships

The NYC Department of City Planning is seeking talented undergraduate and graduate students with a focus on planning, urban design, public policy, technology, or related fields. By working in one of the agency’s variety of divisions, interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience, become exposed to the interdisciplinary field of city planning while also participating in agency events, site visits across the five boroughs, etc. Please see below for a complete listing of available internships and apply as instructed in the corresponding posting.

Please refer to the list of New Hire forms found below. These New Hire forms are required to be completed prior to your scheduled processing appointment. The completed forms, along with the required documentation, will be reviewed by Human Capital on your processing appointment date.
Please do not resign from your current employment until you have received notification from your hiring program to commence employment.

Please note:
A processing fee is paid by an employee in the form of a payroll deduction in connection with appointments (new hires) or change in title/status without a competitive examination. This includes appointments to Non-Competitive, Exempt, and Labor class positions, and to Unclassified Service positions as well as provisional appointments, transfers, title changes and reinstatements. The fee will be based on the minimum of the salary range of the title being sought (regardless of appointment level). The processing fee will be deducted from your first or second payroll check.  Please see the processing fee schedule below.
