Oswaldo Pereira is currently the Senior Military and Veterans' Liaison for DVS. He is responsible for the training and coordination of 62 city-wide Veteran Liaisons, each representing their respective municipal agencies to educate veteran & service member employees and liaise pertinent information stemming from DVS. Oswaldo additionally builds and maintains relationships with key community stakeholders and high ranking military personnel looking to conduct official business with the City of New York.
Before coming to DVS, Oswaldo served as Outreach Coordinator and Veterans' Liaison for the Office of the Public Advocate for the City of New York, Letitia James. In this capacity, he advised the Public Advocate in veterans' affairs, drafted policies aimed at addressing short comings with veteran services on the city level, and organized public support for advocacy on the national level.Oswaldo served in the US Army as a Combat Medic from 2006-2010. He served two tours of duty under Operation Iraqi Freedom: 1 tour of duty to Mosul, Iraq in 2007 with the 1st Calvary Division, and 1 tour of duty to Al Mijar Al Kabir, Iraq in 2009 with the 1st Armored Division. He was responsible for providing emergency medical treatment, limited primary care, and health protection and evacuation from a point of injury or illness. He holds a Bachelor's Degree focused in English Literature from Fordham University and is a fluent Spanish speaker.
