Tommie Lloyd is a Community Coordinator (Veteran Peer Coordinator) for DVS. He brings to this position over 30 years of City experience, including 23 years with the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). In his previous role as a Community Associate (Help Line Services Coordinator), Tommie was responsible for numerous contributions to the Administrative Services Unit such as agency-wide special events, events for the Commissioner of DHS, as well as DHS' Annual Veterans' Breakfast. During his tenor with DHS, Tommie worked in various homeless shelters throughout the boroughs of New York City, including the Franklin Avenue Men's Shelter (2003-2007), Bellevue Men's Shelter (1990-1992), and 8 East Third Street Men's Shelter (1981-1990). He also worked at DHS' headquarters when they were located at 60 Hudson Street. During his time there, he supervised the mailroom and messenger staff, and coordinated agency wide inventory for 26 locations.Tommie also served in the United States Army (PFC) as a Communication Specialist from 1974-1977. His passion for helping fellow veterans in need has no bounds. Tommie also had some direct experience doing faith-based outreach for the Mission Home initiative.
