Tickets Available For Build Safe│Live Safe Conference

The conference is a daylong series of seminars presented by Department experts discussing industry trends and highlighting safe construction practices. Deadline Approaching For Seats on License Boards
There is still time to apply for a position as a board member on the Electrical License Board and the Master Plumber & Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractor License Board. These volunteer positions at NYC Buildings are open to members of the electrical and plumbing industries, architectural and engineering communities, as well as other industry stakeholders. The application deadline to be considered for these positions is February 7, 2017.
In an effort to enhance construction safety on work sites throughout the City, the Department hired over 140 new inspectors in calendar year 2016, quadrupled fines for safety lapses, and undertook a massive proactive enforcement sweep. As a result of these enhanced measures, NYC Buildings inspectors issued 54,407 ECB violations in 2016 to buildings and construction sites across NYC; well above the 49,213 ECB violations that were issued in 2015. During this same period of time, the City collected $68,092,866 in penalties from ECB violations, a 62% increase from the $42,024,529 in collected penalties from 2015.

2017-001: Clarifies the extent of testing required for alterations to existing fuel gas piping systems. Such alterations may be limited to a single branch, or may affect the entire system. This document shall not override requirements of the New York City Fuel Gas Code.
