Notice on Buildings Information System (BIS) Transactions

Due to a service disruption caused by an unexpected power outage at the City's data center that occurred on April 29, 2022, our Buildings Information System (BIS) is not reflecting some customer transactions. DOB is working diligently to address the issue.

Transactions made between April 29th and May 6th, 2022 may have been impacted, as well as limited transactions prior to April 29th.

If you believe that your BIS transaction has been impacted by this service disruption, please first check BIS to see if the website accurately reflects the transaction.

If BIS does not accurately reflect your transaction, please reach out to the Department by calling (212) 566-5000 or submitting an online help form request so that we can assist you. Issues arising from this service disruption are being prioritized by the Department.

DOB Payment Refund Requests

Reminder to customers who are looking to dispute a payment made to the Department of Buildings, that payment disputes related to filing fees or civil penalty should be made through a refund request application submitted to the appropriate borough office or unit.

Customers who are looking to cancel a payment are advised not to submit a chargeback request to their credit card company or to execute a stop payment request with their bank. Instead, submit a refund request application with supporting documentation to the Fiscal refund unit.
