In-Person Build Safe Live| Safe Conference Returns!

DOB's annual build safe | live safe conference, a daylong series of seminars, where DOB experts discuss a variety of topics including construction safety, building maintenance, NYC's regulatory landscape, and building sustainability is set to return in-person on Friday, July 29, 2022.

Come by to view in-depth presentations about the most significant changes to the 2022 NYC Construction Codes, which go into effect November 7 of this year.

DOB Revokes Site Safety Training Cards Issued by EHS Academy LLC

The Department of Buildings has determined that EHS Academy LLC has failed to comply with the Department's requirements to be an authorized course provider.

As of June 23, 2022, any certificates of completion for a course or course completion cards, including Site Safety Training Cards, issued by EHS are revoked and are no longer valid as proof of course or training completion.

You're Invited to Buildings After Hours

Buildings After Hours is here for you!

We are opening our doors every Tuesday for our Buildings After Hours customer service event to make it easier for homeowners, small business owners, tenants and building managers to get questions answered.

From 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at our five borough offices, meet with DOB staff to get advice on construction projects, address an open violation on a property or get the status of an application filed with us.

New Application Process for Special Gowanus Mixed Use District Incentive

There is a new application process for individuals seeking to take advantage of the incentive program in Brooklyn's Gowanus Mixed Use District.

Applicants for New Building (NB) and Alt-CO jobs who seek to utilize the Gowanus Mix Use incentive, are required to submit to the Department a signed and notarized Notice of Restriction (NOR) and proof of recording from the Office of City Register prior to approval. The new NOR form is available online.

Record Requests Update in DOB NOW: BIS Options

DOB NOW: BIS Options has been updated to allow a maximum of 15 record requests per eFiling account – up from the previous maximum of 5, effective.

An additional contact field is also being added to record requests so an additional person can be designated to pick up the records.

Elevator License Types Launch in DOB NOW: Licensing

All new elevator license applications, business approvals, renewal submissions, card re-issuance requests, insurance updates, and changes to information will be processed through DOB NOW: Licensing.

This change began on June 27, 2022 and as a result these applications are no longer available in DOB NOW: BIS Options.

Submit Your Waste Management Plan

Certain new large residential development and conversions are now required to submit Waste Management Plans to the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) at the same time they submit plans that include design drawings to DOB.

Generally, a Waste Management Plan is required if the building will have at least 150 dwelling units.
