New Energy Letter Grades Out Today!

The updated 2021 Energy Grades are officially here. A full year has passed since the launch of New York City's Energy Efficiency Letter Grade Signs program, which means that starting today, October 1st, owners of our city's largest buildings must obtain and print out their 2021 Letter Grade Signs from the DOB NOW Public Portal.

The label includes the 1-100 ENERGY STAR® score and corresponding A-D letter grade to give New Yorkers a snapshot of a building's energy performance compared to similar buildings. These letter grades provide an easy to understand level of transparency on how our city's largest buildings stack up when it comes to energy efficiency.

Per New York City law, all buildings over 25,000 square feet – and multiple buildings on a single lot that total at least 100,000 square feet – are required to display these energy grade signs at each public entrance by October 31st.
