Update: Network Issues Temporarily Impacting DOB NOW

The Department of Buildings is actively working to resolve network issues currently affecting the availability of DOB NOW. We are aware that the system has been intermittently available since Monday, December 28, 2020 and are urgently working to resolve this issue as well as network problems that were identified this morning.

The network issues are related to the recent launch of General Construction (Phase One) and other work types in DOB NOW: Build. Please see the Service Notice for additional details.

We recognize the significant impact this is having on submitting time-sensitive filings. More guidance will be provided about these filings on a later update once the system is fully operational.

For Emergency Work

To file an Emergency Work Notification (EWN) only during the system outage, a Licensed Master Plumber (LMP), Licensed Master Fire Suppression Piping Contractor (FSC) or Licensed Oil Burner Equipment Installers (OBI) may submit an EWN to the LAA Unit by email to DOBEWN@buildings.nyc.gov. This email must include:

  • Address of the emergency
  • Licensee’s name and license number
  • A brief description of the emergency condition and the associated proposed work to repair.

For additional assistance with DOB NOW, submit an inquiry at www.nyc.gov/dobnowhelp.
