2017 was a big year for DOB NOW. We released nine additional work types in
DOB NOW: Build along with boiler and façade filings in DOB NOW: Safety, and received a combined total of 90,000 filings through both systems. Stay tuned for more updates and additional work-type releases in 2018!

Recent Enhancements

On January 16, new enhancements were rolled out in DOB NOW: Inspections.

Construction enhancement: DOB NOW: Inspections now requires the public to upload certain electrical documents prior to requesting Place of Assembly inspections. This will greatly reduce the number of Place of Assembly inspection requests that are rejected because of improper or insufficient documentation that is required in order to conduct the inspection. Go to the Service Notice for more information.

Plumbing enhancements: Applicants of record on a job are now required to go online to submit a Request for Plumbing Sign off for Certificate of Occupancy (CO) or Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO). DOB NOW: Inspections also added a new inspection type, Special Service Pump Test that can either be requested by the public or self-certified by a Licensed Master Plumber on both Sprinkler and Standpipe permits. Go to the Service Notice for more information.

Electrical enhancements: Applicants of record on a job are now required to go online to submit a Request for Electrical Sign off for CO. Go to the Service Notice for more information.

Certification of Objections: If DOB issued any certifiable objections on a development inspection, the public will now be required to upload at least one document as proof of correction when certifying an objection.

Additional information and detailed instructions on using DOB NOW: Inspections are available at the DOB NOW: Inspections Resources page.

Best,

Rick Chandler, PE
Commissioner
