Billion Oyster Project

Billion Oyster Project

Billion Oyster Project, an initiative of the New York Harbor Foundation, is an ecosystem restoration and education project aimed at restoring one billion live oysters to New York Harbor while engaging hundreds of thousands of schoolchildren through restoration based STEM education programs. Shells are collected from dozens of restaurants and events in NYC and after they are properly separated, collected, transported, and cured, these shells can be reseeded to grow new live oysters-or reused.

donateNYC Partner Fact: To date, the Billion Oyster Project has collected over 400,000 lbs. of oyster shells for reuse from NYC restaurants.
