Rebuilding Together New York City Salvage Store

Rebuilding Together NYC

Rebuilding Together NYC is a nonprofit organization for safe and healthy housing that provides repairs and modifications to low-income homes and nonprofit facilities. Their mission is to transform the homes and lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing our communities. They do this by providing free home repairs, accessibility modifications, community center renovations, and construction workforce training and job placement services for low-income residents. Founded in 1998, they have performed projects throughout the five boroughs and are building programs to provide even more to those that need a helping hand.

Established in 2015, the Rebuilding Together NYC Salvage Store evolved out of their Workforce Training Program where participants deconstructed several homes on Staten Island that were slated for demolition. The initial stock of the Salvage Store came from those homes. Interested buyers may visit their warehouse in Gowanus or see their current stock online. All proceeds benefit the mission of Rebuilding Together New York City.

donateNYC Partner Fact: Rebuilding Together NYC recovered 6,418 pounds of material in 2017 that were headed for the waste stream.
