Teaching Beyond the Square

TeachingBeyondTheSquare

Teaching Beyond the Square’s (TBS) work is guided by an exploration-based approach to early childhood education. TBS supports educators through event programming, consults school communities, and operates The Materials Center in partnership with the Educational Alliance. The Materials Center contains a large collection of “found” materials and natural objects gathered and donated by New York City residents and businesses—while these materials are often discarded, the Materials Center shows that they can be repurposed into something new, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and action.

donateNYC Partner Fact: Since opening the Materials Center in 2016, Teaching Beyond the Square has served more than 100 area schools.
