New York's a Stage

MOME launched its first-ever campaign to raise the visibility of New York City's vibrant local theater industry. During the month of October, you can experience over 200 performances and special events across the five boroughs.

NYC Women's Fund

MOME launched the NYC Women's Fund, a $5 million program to provide funds to complete film, music and theatre projects by, for, and about women. In its second year, the NYC Women's Fund received more than 1,200 applications, more than double the results of the first round.

"Made in NY" Fall Talks

Fall Talks

Interested in working in television, film, journalism, publishing, advertising, or digital content creation? Then MOME's "Made in NY" Talks are for you! Created in partnership with the Center for Communication, the series includes a variety of free events and panels this Fall.

"Made in NY" Animation Project

Animation Project

MOME, in partnership with NYC Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeONâ„ ) Community Centers, launched the next class of the "Made in NY" Animation Project. This program provides training for young New Yorkers in storytelling and 3D computer animation, and helps them qualify for paid internships.

One-Year Anniversary of the Freelancers Hub

Freelancers Hub

NYC is the first city in the country to provide direct services to independent workers, and MOME is proud to be a part of that! On October 17, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the launch of the Freelancers Hub at the Made in NY Media Center. This Hub provides communal workspace for freelancers, workshops on building and managing freelance careers, as well as free consultations on worker benefit programs and legal assistance.

First-Ever Freelancers Study

Freelancers Study

MOME is excited to announce the completion of the first comprehensive study of New York City's freelance workforce!

Conducted with the Freelancers Union and Upwork, the study shows that one in three New Yorkers is freelancing - including 61 percent of workers in media and entertainment, and that this workforce contributes more than $31.4 billion annually to the city's economy.

Congratulations to the "Made in NY" Production Assistant Graduates!

Production Assistant

MOME congratulates the 16 new graduates of the "Made in NY" Production Assistant Training Program, a partnership with Brooklyn Workforce Innovations! To date, this program has helped more than 860 creative and talented young New Yorkers gain the skills they need to work in the film and television industry!

Office of Nightlife Sustainability Panel

Office of Nightlife

Senior Executive Director of the Office of Nightlife Ariel Palitz participated in the "Nightlife for Good: Sustainability in Arts, Culture, and Hospitality" Panel. Panelists discussed how to create safe havens for marginalized groups, the impact of reducing plastic straw usage, energy efficiency in nightlife spaces, and more!

One Book, One New York Event with Patti Smith

One Book, One New York

New Yorkers voted for Patti Smith's novel, Just Kids, as this year's One Book, One New York winner. At the campaign's final event on September 20 at the Center for Fiction, Ms. Smith discussed writing, loss, and coming of age.
