Customer Service Borough Offices Extend Hours for Payment of
Water Bills and Liens on Property DEP
and DOF Will Team Up To Conduct Community Outreach Evening
Sessions in Each Borought to Assist Homeowners to Satisfy Debts
or Contest Charges
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)
is extending Customer Service borough office hours, Monday through
Thursday until July 29, 2004 from 9 00 am to 7:00 pm. Customers
may receive assistance concerning their lien sale notices for outstanding
water and sewer charges and may pay their bills via check or money
order (cash and credit cards will not be accepted). Customers may
enter into payment agreements at the DEP borough locations listed
below. DEP personnel will also be available at the Business Centers
during regular business hours to assist customers. Customers who
wish to pay with cash must visit one of the Department of Finance’s
(DOF) Business Centers; Credit card payments will not be accepted.
Payments can also be made online at any of DOF’s Borough
Business Centers or by mail, regardless of where the property is
located. However, to ensure timely processing, DOF advises owners
not to mail payments after July 9.

in observance of the July 4th holiday.
In addition, elected officials will join with staff from DOF
and DEP prior to lien sales in each borough at evening outreach
sessions to make it easier for listed owners to come forward and
make payments or contest charges. The Department of Housing Preservation
and Development (HPD) will join the City team to provide useful
information on housing and loans
