Check who operates bridges and tunnels

Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are not issued by DOT, and are listed on the Citywide events calendar.

The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

A single-lane will be closed on Lower Roadway in either direction. Westbound (Manhattan-bound) closure will be Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am and Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Eastbound (Queens-bound) closure will be Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am and Saturday from 1 am to 7 am. These lane closures are necessary to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges deck replacement, and will be coordinated with the maintenance lane closures.

Manhattan Bridge

The Lower Roadway (Manhattan-bound) left lane will be closed 24/7 to facilitate structural and component rehabilitation under contract BRC-156F Contract #15.

Williamsburg Bridge

Manhattan-bound outer roadway will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 12 pm and one lane at a time will be closed on inner or outer roadways in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm to facilitate an in-depth inspection for necessary rehabilitation work. Also, one lane at a time will be closed in either direction from Friday 3/15/2019 10 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Manhattan

West 33 Street between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue

This street is fully closed to facilitate long term roadway reconstruction work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Battery Place and Vesey Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 8:30 pm Saturday to 10:30 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 11 pm to 5 am nightly. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 3 am to 8 am Saturday and 3 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Vesey Street and Canal Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 11 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 11 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 10 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 9 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Canal Street and 14 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 11:59 am Saturday and 9 pm Saturday to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 11:59 am Saturday and Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 3 am to 8 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between 14 Street and 24 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 9 am Saturday and 1 am to 10 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 3 am to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 9 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 10 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 6 am Saturday and 2 am to 8 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between 42 Street and 50 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 7 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 10 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 8 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 8 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 8 pm Saturday to 11 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Macombs Dam Viaduct between Harlem River Drive and Edgecombe Avenue

The viaduct will be fully closed from Thursday 11 pm to Friday 5 am, Friday 11:59 pm to Saturday 7 am, and Monday 11 pm to Tuesday 5 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge.

West 155 Street between Bradhurst Avenue and Harlem River Drive Service Road

These streets will be fully closed from Thursday 9 pm to Friday 5 am, Friday 10 pm to Saturday 7 am, and Monday 9 pm to Tuesday 5 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge.

158 Street Ramp to Northbound Henry Hudson Parkway

Effective immediately, the 158 Street ramp to northbound Henry Hudson Parkway will be closed until further notice to address an urgent condition.

Third Avenue between 54 Street and 5 Avenue/65 Street

One lane westbound is closed around-the clock on the inner roadway, and an additional lane may be closed from 8 pm to 2 pm Monday to Friday to facilitate NYSDOT long term work.

Union Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal

One lane will be closed Monday to Saturday from 6 am to 6 pm to facilitate snooper truck operation.

Brooklyn/Queens

Grand Street Bridge over Newtown Creek

Bridge will be fully closed Saturday from 7 am to 3 pm to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Bronx

Grand Concourse Parkway Bridge over East 174 Street

Parking lane of approximately 20 parking spaces along the southbound service road of Grand Concourse over East 174 Street will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate bridge component rehabilitation project (HBCR03A).

East 174 Street underneath Grand Concourse overpass

Parking lane of approximately 15 parking spaces along the north curb of East 174 Street underneath Grand Concourse overpass will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm to facilitate bridge component rehabilitation project (HBCR03A).

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge

Two lanes will be closed in either direction during weeknights from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate bridge repairs.

Queens

Eastbound BQE West Leg at Astoria Boulevard

Left shoulder and a portion of the left lane will be closed once or twice a week through March 22, 2019 between the weeknight hours of 12 am and 5 am to facilitate maintenance operation.
