The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:


East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

Single-lane will be closed Manhattan-bound north inner roadway Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am and Tuesday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning. Single-lane will be closed Queens-bound south inner roadway Saturday from 1 am to 7 am and Tuesday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning. These lane closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway under Contract BRC-231F.

Manhattan Bridge

Single-lane Manhattan-bound Lower Roadway will be closed 24/7 and single-lane North Upper Roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm to facilitate bridge rehabilitation under Contract BRC-156F.

Williamsburg Bridge

Single-lane Brooklyn-bound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Manhattan

West 31 Street between 9 Avenue and Dyer Avenue

West 31 Street from mid-block to 9 Avenue will be closed and mid-block to Dyer Avenue will be converted to two-way traffic through 11/22/2020 with weekday working hours from 7 am to 6 pm to facilitate 31 Street bridge construction west of 9 Avenue viaduct..

West 33 Street between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue

This street is fully closed to facilitate long term roadway reconstruction work.

Battery Park Underpass

North Tube will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 8 am to facilitate electrical and mechanical restoration.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Battery Place and Vesey Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 8:30 pm Saturday to 10:30 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 11 pm to 5 am nightly. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 3 am to 8 am Saturday and 3 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (southbound) between 14 Street and 24 Street

Southbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 10 am; double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. Northbound left turning lane will be closed 1 hour prior to southbound closure. These closures are necessary to facilitate Google Pier 57 rehabilitation.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Vesey Street and Canal Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 11 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 11 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 10 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 9 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Canal Street and 14 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 11:59 am Saturday and 9 pm Saturday to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 11:59 am Saturday and Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 3 am to 8 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between 42 Street and 50 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 7 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 10 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 8 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 8 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 8 pm Saturday to 11 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Morris Street and Albany Street

: Single-lane will be closed northbound Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, Saturday 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday 1 am to 9 am; double-lane will be closed northbound weeknights from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 7 am, and Sundays 2 am to 8 am; single-lane will be closed southbound Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 10 am; double-lane will be closed southbound weeknights from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 3 am to 8 am, and Sundays from 3 am to 9 am to facilitate installation of the West Thames Pedestrian Bridge fixtures by the NYC Economic Development Corp. through October 2019.

Henry Hudson Parkway Viaduct (between West 72 Street and West 82 Street; West 94 Street and West 98 Street)

Beginning Friday July 19, 2019 through November 2019, single-lane between 60 and 82 Streets will be closed in either direction Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 12 am. Double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation and replacement of structural steel.

Henry Hudson Parkway (between George Washington Bridge and Henry Hudson Bridge)

One northbound lane will be closed weekdays from 9 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 7 am, and weekends from 11 pm to 2 pm the next day. One southbound lane will be closed weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, 10 pm Friday night to 7 am Saturday, and 10 pm Saturday night to 2 pm Sunday. Two lanes either northbound or southbound will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, Saturday 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday 2 am to 9 am, to facilitate general repairs by MTA Bridges and Tunnels from May 14, 2018 to March 21, 2021.

Henry Hudson Parkway and Ramps between W 165 Street and W 185 Street

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane will be closed southbound Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge inspection.

Macombs Dam Viaduct between Harlem River Drive and Edgecombe Avenue

The viaduct will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning and from Friday 11:59 pm to Saturday 7 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge. During Yankee's home games, full closure will take place 3 hours after the end of game.

Harlem River Drive Service Road between Harlem River Drive Southbound Entrance Ramp and West 155 Street

This portion of the southbound service road will be partially closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm and Monday to Saturday from 9 pm to 5 am to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges steel repairs on the West 155th Street Viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem River. Motorists will be detoured onto the southbound Harlem River Drive.

West 155 Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard (8th Avenue) and the Macombs Dam Bridge; Willie Mays Drive between West 155 Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (7th Avenue)

These streets will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm and Monday to Saturday from 9 pm to 5 am to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges steel repairs on the West 155th Street Viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem River.

West 155th Street between Bradhurst Avenue and Harlem River Drive Service Road

These streets will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 5 am next morning and from Friday 10 pm to Saturday 7 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge.

Two right lanes on the Queens-bound will be closed Tuesday 11 pm to Wednesday 5 am to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn Queens Expressway under Manhattan Bridge

Single-lane will be closed in either direction Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 9 am. Westbound double-lane will be closed Monday to Saturday from 1 am to 5 am and Sunday from 2 am to 7 am. Except for holidays these closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of the Manhattan Bridge as part of the BRC-156F Contract.

Gowanus Expressway/Belt Parkway Interchange between 86th Street and 45th Street

One of three lanes in each direction may be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm to facilitate NYSDOT long term roadway rehabilitation work.

Third Avenue between 54th Street and 5th Avenue/65th Street

One lane westbound is closed around-the clock on the inner roadway, and an additional lane may be closed from 8 pm to 2 pm Monday to Friday to facilitate NYSDOT long term work.

Northbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to Saturday 3 pm, Saturday 11 pm to Sunday 3 pm, and Sunday 10 pm to Monday 5 am; Southbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am, Friday from 10 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday from 10 pm to Sunday 2 pm; Double-lane will be closed in either direction Tuesday 1 am to Friday 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate deck replacement.

Major Deegan Expressway under the Cross Bronx Expressway

Close single-lane northbound Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday 11 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday 11 pm to Sunday 3 pm. Close single-lane southbound Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday 10 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday 10 pm to Sunday 2 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of the Major Deegan Expressway and Cross Bronx Expressway interchange.

Shore Road Bridge over Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 am to 9 am. Single-lane southbound and northbound will be closed Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and from 10 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Third Avenue Bridge

The north roadway and north sidewalk will be closed and two-way traffic and pedestrian will be shifted to south side Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm as part of Filling Five Bridges Over Abandoned CSX Line.

East 161 Street/Elton Avenue

Eastbound on Elton Avenue between East 161 Street and Washington Avenue will be closed until 11/4/2019. Eastbound traffic will be shifted onto single westbound lane and the bus stop on the westbound side will be temporarily relocated to the corner of East 163 Street and Elton Avenue. Also, the curbside parking on the corner of Washington Avenue and East 161 Street will be eliminated and north sidewalk will be closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate Stages 2 and 3 of the East 161 Street Bridge over CSX line.

Unionport Road Bridge over Amtrak and CSX

Northbound of Unionport Bridge between White Plains Road and East Tremont Avenue will be closed 24/7 for approximately 6 weeks, beginning May 13, 2019, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation.

150th Street Bridge over Cross Island Parkway

Sidewalk and right lane on the northbound of the bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm as part of the Component Rehabilitation of Ten Bridges Citywide Project (HBCR03A).

South Conduit Avenue over the Belt System-Southern Parkway

Double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate maintenance on South Conduit Avenue.

Jackie Robinson Parkway underneath Markwood Road Bridge

Right lane on Jackie Robinson Parkway eastbound underneath the Markwood Road Bridge will be closed one or two nights weekly from 11 pm to 5 am next morning through 10/4/2019 to facilitate bridge maintenance.

DOT Weekend Walks Rock-A-Block Boulevard

The following street will be closed Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 12 pm to 5 pm for the DOT Weekend Walks Rock-A-Block Boulevard.
