Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are not issued by NYC DOT, and are listed on the Citywide events calendar.

The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:

East River Bridge Crossings

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

Single-lane Queens-bound south upper roadway will be closed 24/7, and double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3 pm and from 8 pm to 5 am, and Saturday from 5 am to 2 pm, and from 8 pm to 2 am next morning. During second lane closure, one Manhattan-bound upper roadway lane will reverse to service Queens-bound traffic. Queens-bound south outer roadway will be closed Sunday to Saturday from 1 am to 6 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway.

Brooklyn Bridge

Pearl Street entrance ramp to eastbound Brooklyn Bridge (Ramp B) will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate bridge rehabilitation of the approach ramp. Motorist are advised to use entrance ramp by Montgomery Street.

Williamsburg Bridge

Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south outer roadway will be closed from Saturday 5 am to Monday 5 am and Monday to Friday from 5 am to 7 pm. Single-lane Brooklyn-bound south inner roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Single-lane Manhattan-bound outer roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 pm to 5 am and single-lane Manhattan-bound inner roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 8 pm to 5 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Structural Strengthening and rehabilitation.


Manhattan

Battery Park Underpass (BPU) between Route 9A/West Street and FDR Drive

One tube in either direction will be closed intermittently, Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 4 am next morning, through March 29, 2024, to facilitate inspection, maintenance, and repairs.

FDR Drive Southbound between Jackson Street and Cherry Street

Single-lane will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 10 am next morning. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate East Side Coastal Resiliency Project and will continue through September 11, 2026.

FDR Drive between Montgomery Street and East 15 Street

Single-lane northbound and/or southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 11 am. Double-lane will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate median reconstruction and will continue through August 15, 2026.

FDR Drive between East 73 Street and East 71 Street

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 10 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane northbound will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 7 am. Southbound FDR Drive service road between East 73 and East 71 Streets, FDR Exit Ramp (Exit 13), and Entrance Ramp to southbound FDR Drive will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 10 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. These closures will continue through April 30, 2024 and are necessary to facilitate construction of Kellen Tower over the FDR Drive.

New Pedestrian Bridge and Fender Rehabilitation at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge

Single-lane in both directions of FDR Drive/Harlem River Drive will be closed and Willis Avenue ramp from the FDR Drive/Harlem River Drive northbound will be partially closed, Monday to Friday from 10:30 pm to 5 am, Saturday from 12 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday from 12 am to 11 am, through May 1, 2024.

New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

The following streets will be closed for the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 16th, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Manhattan.

Bronx/Manhattan

Broadway Bridge over the Harlem River

Right lane in both directions will close Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm and alternating center lane in either direction will close Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm through March 29, 2024, to facilitate rope cable cleaning, machinery repairs, and electrical conduit installation. Alternating sidewalk closures will be in effect.

Madison Avenue Bridge over Harlem River

Single-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 6 am and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am. Bronx-bound will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am. Manhattan-bound will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am and Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate testing and rehabilitation and will continue through March 31, 2024. Motorists are advised to use 145 Street Bridge as an alternate route.


Bronx

Bronx River Parkway between Gun Hill Road and Nereid Avenue

Single-lane southbound will be closed through September 9, 2024, to facilitate bridge replacement over the Metro-North Railroad. Two travel lanes southbound and three travel lanes northbound will be maintained at all times.

Grand Concourse Bridge over Metro North Railroad Hudson Line between 151 Street and 153 Street

Two lanes of traffic in both directions are shifted to the southbound lanes and structural steel repair work will continue through March 22, 2024, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm and 9 pm to 5 am next morning.

Hutchinson River Parkway Northbound between Exit 1B (East Tremont/Westchester Avenues) and Entrance ramp from Hutchinson River Parkway East

Single-lane northbound will close Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 11 pm to 3 pm next day, and Saturday from 11 pm to 2 pm next day. Double-lane northbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge

Double-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 12 am to 5:30 am through April 5, 2024, to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Hutchinson River Parkway Southbound between Exit 1C (Pelham Parkway) and Entrance ramp from Westchester Avenue

Single-lane southbound will close Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 2 pm next day. Double-lane southbound will close Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate Westchester Avenue Bridge reconstruction and will continue through June 30, 2024.

Park Avenue Southbound between East 180 Street and East 179 Street

Southbound will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday, Monday (March 18, 2024), and Tuesday (March 19, 2024) from 9 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate rehabilitation of the East 180 Street Bridge over Metro North Railroad. Motorists are advised to use Webster Avenue as an alternate route.

Major Deegan Expressway (northbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp north of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Full closure may occur Monday to Friday between 12 am and 5 am for demolition and erection of the superstructure.

Major Deegan Expressway (southbound) between Exit 3 and Entrance ramp south of East 138 Street

Right-lane will become an exit only lane at Exit 3 24/7. Additional lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday night from 10 pm to 5 am next morning through March 3, 2025 to facilitate East 138 Street Bridge replacement. Southbound exit ramp to 138 Street bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am, Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am next morning, and Sunday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning to facilitate water main connections.

Shore Road Bridge over the Hutchinson River

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 am and single-lane in both directions will be closed from 9 am to 1 pm and 10 pm to 7 am next morning through April 12, 2024 to facilitate maintenance. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times.

Bridge will be fully closed Saturday and Sunday from 6 am to 2 pm to facilitate bridge repairs. Metropolitan Avenue may be used as an alternate route.

Greenpoint Avenue Bridge over Newtown Creek

Single-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning through March 29, 2024, to facilitate maintenance repairs. Bike lane will be closed during construction. Two-way traffic will be maintained.


Brooklyn

7 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 64 Street and 62 Street

Approximately six parking spaces will be eliminated Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm through March 29, 2024, to facilitate rehabilitation.

18 Avenue Bridge over LIRR between 52 Street and 54 Street

Alternating single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm through March 29, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. Travel lane will be shifted to the parking lane and two-way traffic will be maintained. Approximately 40 parking spaces will be eliminated along 18 Avenue between 52 and 54 Streets and approximately 18 parking spaces will be eliminated along 53 Street between 17 and 19 Avenues.

Belt Parkway Bridge over Ocean Avenue

Double-lanes eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12 am to 4 am through March 29, 2024, to facilitate bridge repairs.

Brooklyn-Queens Expressway between Vine Street Entrance Ramp and Atlantic Avenue

Single-lane Staten Island-bound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am, through April 5, 2024, to facilitate core extraction and testing.

Nostrand Avenue Bridge over LIRR between Avenue H and Avenue I

Alternating lanes in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 4 am next morning through March 29, 2024, to facilitate rehabilitation. Approximately 36 parking spaces will be eliminated and travel lane will be shifted to the parking lane. Two-way traffic will be maintained.

49th Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Parade

The following streets will be closed for the 49th Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Parade on Sunday, March 17th, 2024 at the discretion of the NYPD in Brooklyn.

Queens

Belt Parkway between Exit 21B and Exit 20

Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

Belt Parkway in the vicinity of 130 Street Bridge

Double-lane westbound and single-lane on the entrance ramp from 135 Street will be closed Monday to Wednesday from 10 pm to 5:30 am next morning to facilitate 130 Street Bridge rehabilitation.

Borden Avenue Bridge over Dutch Kills between 27 Avenue and Review Avenue

Bridge will be reduced to one travel lane for either direction Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 5 pm, through April 6, 2024, to facilitate lead paint removal and repainting project. Alternate one-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Motorists may choose to travel via Hunters Point Avenue as an alternate.

Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Hillside Avenue Bridge

Single-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm through March 29, 2024, to facilitate installation of shielding under the bridge. Due to clearance reduction, oversized emergency vehicles are advised to exit prior to the bridge overpass.

Francis Lewis Boulevard Bridge over Belt System Laurelton Parkway

Single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm through March 29, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation.

Grand Central Parkway in the vicinity of Exit 11

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 pm next day. Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 pm next day. These closures are necessary to facilitate geotechnical boring and test pit work, and will continue through April 1, 2024.

Grand Central Parkway between Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Boulevard

Single-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 11 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 pm Sunday. Double-lane Grand Central Parkway westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane in both directions on the Cross Island Parkway in the vicinity of the Grand Central Parkway interchange will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single or double-lane closures on the Cross Island Parkway northbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway westbound and Cross Island Parkway southbound exit ramp to Grand Central Parkway eastbound will also occur during these times. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through December 21, 2025.

Hillside Avenue Bridge over Cross Island Parkway

Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. Double-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm. North sidewalk will remain closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through March 31, 2024.

Hunters Point Bridge over Dutch Kills between 27 Street and 29 Street

Traffic will be shifted 24/7 through March 29, 2024 (approximately six weeks) to facilitate lead paint removal and protective coating operation. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. Sidewalks will be reduced to 5-foot width on the northwest and southeast side.

Laurelton Parkway in the vicinity of 130 Avenue Bridge

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am and double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am through March 31, 2024, to facilitate installation of Shielding Brackets on the under-deck of the 130 Street Bridge. One lane in each direction will be maintained. Due to clearance reduction, vehicle's height over 9-5 inches for northbound and 7-11 inches for southbound, are advised to exit prior to approaching the 130 Street Bridge overpass. Also, single-lane on the 130 Avenue Bridge and north sidewalk will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm, through March 26, 2024, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. One lane in each direction will be maintained.

Long Island Expressway between Clearview Expressway and Springfield Boulevard

Single-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am , Saturday from 1 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Single-lane westbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 6 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 11 am next morning. Double-lane westbound mainline will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am , Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 9 am. Mainline closures will continue through September 30, 2024. Single-lane of service road (Horace Harding Expressway) westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to Saturday 3 pm, and Saturday from 11 pm to 9 am next morning. Service road closures will continue through December 31, 2024. These closures are to facilitate replacement of Oceania Street Bridge.

Long Island Expressway between Queens Midtown Tunnel and Maurice Avenue

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 6 am next morning, Saturday from 12:01 am to 10 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 11 am and from 10 pm to 6 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 6 am, Saturday from 2 am to 8 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, Saturday from 10 pm to 10 am next morning, and Sunday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning. Double-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Intermittent 15-minute full closure in one direction at a time may occur Monday to Saturday between 2 am and 5 am except holidays and embargo days for maximum of five nights. On and Off-Ramps within this segment will be reduced to 14 feet Monday to Saturday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate installation of ATDM and ITS equipment and will continue through September 27, 2024.

Nassau Expressway between Cross Bay Boulevard Entrance Ramp and Exit 2N

Single-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and 9 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 10 pm to 7 am next morning. Double-lane eastbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Eastbound Exit Ramp 2S will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning, and Saturday from 11 pm to 7 am next morning. These closures are necessary to facilitate JFK Redevelopment Program and will continue through December 31, 2025.

Roosevelt Avenue Bridge

Westbound lanes will be closed and single-lane in each direction will be provided on the eastbound lanes through the duration of the EDC's Willets Point Development Project.

Springfield Boulevard Bridge over Belt Southern Parkway

Single-lane in each direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm, through March 29, 2024, to facilitate expanding the center median and installation of gas main.

Van Wyck Expressway

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 6 am, Friday from 11:59 pm to 8 am, Saturday from 11 pm to 10 am, and Sunday from 10 pm to 6 am. Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 4 am and Sunday from 1 am to 7 am. Double-lane will be closed Friday from 11 pm to 7 am for northbound and from 11 pm to 5 am for southbound. The exit and entrance ramps along the north and southbound of the expressway may also be closed. These closures are necessary to facilitate roadway widening and will continue through July 14, 2025.

Van Wyck Expressway Viaduct Rehabilitation

Single-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Saturday and Sunday from 1 am to 6 am. Double-lane in both directions will be closed Monday to Friday from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday and Sunday from 2 am to 6 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation and will continue through September 30, 2024.

Van Wyck Expressway in the vicinity of Roosevelt Avenue Bridge

Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to Saturday 12 pm, and Saturday 8 pm to Sunday 12 pm. Single-lane southbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 2 pm, Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to Saturday 3 pm, and Saturday 8 pm to Sunday 3 pm. Double-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 7:30 am. Double-lane southbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 6 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 9 am. At least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained at all times. These closures are necessary to facilitate reconstruction of Roosevelt Avenue Bridge and will continue through July 2, 2024.

Van Wyck Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 7C-A and Exit 11

Single-lane southbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 9:30 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to 3 pm next day, and Saturday from 8 pm to 3 pm next day. Single-lane northbound will be closed Monday to Thursday from 9:30 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to 12 pm next day, and Saturday from 8 pm to 12 pm next day. These closures are necessary to facilitate geotechnical boring and test pit work, and will continue through April 1, 2024.
