Check who operates bridges and tunnels
Permits for parades, block parties, major street fairs and other public street events are not issued by DOT, and are listed on the Citywide events calendar.

The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:
East River Bridge Crossings
Brooklyn Bridge
Tillary Street ramp to Brooklyn Bridge will be closed Sunday to Thursday nights from 9 pm to 5 am next morning and Friday to Saturday from 9 pm to 7 am next morning. This bridge work is estimated to continue through 4/12/2021. Motorists are advised to use Sands Street ramp for access to Manhattan.
Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge
Single-lane Manhattan-bound north upper roadway will be closed Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am and single-lane north lower roadway will be closed Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning. Single-lane Queens-bound upper roadway will be closed Sunday and Monday from 12:01 am to 4 am and single-lane Queens-bound south lower roadway will be closed Saturday from 1 am to 7 am and Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning. These lane closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway.
Manhattan Bridge
Single-lane Manhattan-bound lower roadway will be closed 24/7. Single-lane south upper roadway will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 3 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate bridge rehabilitation. During South Upper Roadway closure, lower roadway will be reversed to accommodate Brooklyn-bound traffic.
Williamsburg Bridge
Single-lane of the Brooklyn-bound inner roadway will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 5 am to 12 pm through 4/25/2021 to facilitate bridge maintenance.
Manhattan
Henry Hudson Parkway between 70 Street and 84 StreetBeginning Monday, 3/22/2021, on the parkway northbound, single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 6 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. On the parkway southbound, single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 12 am and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation of the Henry Hudson Parkway Viaduct and is estimated to continue for approximately two months.
Route 9A between West 34 Street and West 39 StreetNorthbound curb lane and one adjacent lane will be closed on an as needs basis to facilitate Javits Center Emergency Hospital until end of COVID-19 Emergency.
Route 9A between Battery Place and West 59 StreetDouble-lane northbound and southbound will be closed daily from 8 am to 4:30 pm and nightly Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 10 pm to 6 am by NY State DOT for pavement restoration until the COVID-19 Emergency is lifted.
Frankfort Street between Pearl Street and Gold StreetThis street will be reduced to only single-lane in each direction until further notice to facilitate rehabilitation of the Brooklyn Bridge's approach arches.
Festivals, Parades and Events
Javits Center COVID-19 Vaccination Response EmbargoThe following streets will be closed Wednesday, January 13, 2021 through Wednesday, June 30, 2021 for the Javits Center COVID-19 Vaccination Response Embargo at the discretion of the NYPD.
Location(s):- 12th Avenue between West 32nd Street and West 41st Street
- 11th Avenue between West 32nd Street and West 41st Street
- West 41st Street between 12th Avenue and 10th Avenue
- West 40th Street between 12th Avenue and 10th Avenue
- West 34th Street between 12th Avenue and 9th Avenue
- West 33rd Street between 12th Avenue and 10th Avenue
Brooklyn/Queens
Pulaski Bridge over Newtown CreekSingle-lane at a time in either direction will be closed Monday from 7 am to 3 pm to facilitate bridge maintenance.
Brooklyn
Brooklyn-Queens Expressway between Metropolitan Avenue and Gowanus ExpresswaySingle-lane in either direction will be closed nightly Sunday nights through Friday mornings from 11 pm to 6 am by NY State DOT for pavement restoration until the COVID-19 Emergency is lifted.
Prospect Expressway between Gowanus Expressway and Fort Hamilton ParkwaySingle-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm by NY State DOT for wall restoration and maintenance until the COVID-19 Emergency is lifted.
Bronx/Manhattan
Broadway Bridge over the Harlem RiverRight lanes in both directions and Bronx-bound sidewalk will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm to facilitate underdeck shield installation.
University Heights Bridge over the Harlem River (207 Street)Single-lane in either direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm and double-lane will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am next morning through 4/26/2021 to facilitate installation of protective shield and work platform. At least one lane in each direction will remain open.
Bronx
Hutchinson River Parkway between East Tremont Exit and Pelham Parkway on rampSingle-lane in both direction will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 4 am through 5/7/2021 to facilitate rehabilitation of the Westchester Avenue Bridge.
Westchester Avenue between Water Place and Ericson PlaceSingle-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 6 am next morning through 5/7/2021 to facilitate rehabilitation of the Westchester Avenue Bridge.
Queens
Long Island Expressway between Queens Midtown Tunnel and City LineSingle-lane eastbound and westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 3 pm by NY State DOT for wall restoration and maintenance until the COVID-19 Emergency is lifted.
Rehabilitation of the I-678 southbound to the Belt Cross Island Parkway BridgeQueens-bound Cross Island Parkway Exit 36S to I-678 Whitestone Expressway will be reduced to 11-foot lanes Monday and Tuesday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and Bronx-bound I-678 Exit 16 to Cross Island Parkway South will be reduced to 11-foot lanes Monday and Tuesday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning to facilitate rehabilitation of the I-678 southbound to the Belt Cross Island Parkway Bridge.
Staten Island
Arthur Kill Road Bridge over Staten Island Rapid TransitSt. Andrew’s Place will change to a one-way street with traffic flow from Arthur Kill Road/Lion Street toward Bethel Avenue. No parking regulations will be in place 24/7 on St. Andrew’s Place near the intersection of Arthur Kill Road and Lion Street. The new traffic pattern and parking regulations will be in place for approximately 5 months, and are necessary to facilitate completion of construction near the Arthur Kill Road bridge. Also, the Arthur Kill Road bridge will be closed beginning Tuesday 4/6/2021 at 9 pm through Wednesday 4/7/2021 at 5 am. Motorists are advised to use Richmond Valley Road to Page Avenue to Amboy Road to Barnard Avenue as an alternate route.
West Fingerboard Road Bridge over SIRRBeginning Tuesday 4/6/2021, south half of the bridge will be closed and two-way traffic will be maintained with 11-foot lanes in each direction through 7/11/2021 to facilitate bridge painting. Painting operation will take place on weekends from Friday 9 pm to Monday 6 am.
