The City of New York's Department of Transportation issued a traffic alert for this week providing the locations of road construction and events where lane and street closings will affect the flow of traffic. Lane closings may also occur due to circumstances beyond our control. Major road, lane and street closings for the coming week are as follows:


East River Bridge Crossings

Brooklyn Bridge

The Park Row entrance ramp to Brooklyn Bridge will be closed Tuesday from 1 am to 5 am with the rain date for Wednesday to facilitate barrier and retaining wall reconstruction.

Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge

Single-lane will be closed Manhattan-bound north inner roadway Monday to Thursday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and Saturday from 12:01 am to 7 am. Single-lane will be closed Queens-bound south inner roadway Monday to Thursday from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning and Saturday from 1 am to 7 am. These lane closures are necessary to facilitate replacement of upper roadway under Contract BRC-231F. Also, partial single-lane will be closed weeknights from 10 pm to 5 am next morning for Manhattan-bound and from 11 pm to 5:30 am next morning for Queens-bound to facilitate drain cleaning.

Manhattan Bridge

Single-lane Manhattan-bound Lower Roadway will be closed 24/7 to facilitate bridge rehabilitation under Contract BRC-156F. Also, single-lane in the upper roadway will be closed Wednesday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning for Manhattan-bound and from 1 am to 5 am next morning for Brooklyn-bound to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Williamsburg Bridge

Single-lane Brooklyn bound inner roadway will be closed Saturday from 6 am to 2 pm for maintenance.

Manhattan

West 33 Street between 10 Avenue and 11 Avenue

This street is fully closed to facilitate long term roadway reconstruction work.

Battery Park Underpass

North Tube will be fully closed on Saturday 1 am to 8 am to facilitate electrical and mechanical system restoration.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Battery Place and Vesey Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 8:30 pm Saturday to 10:30 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 11 pm to 5 am nightly. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 3 am to 8 am Saturday and 3 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through June 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (southbound) between 14 Street and 24 Street

Southbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 5 am, Saturday from 12:01 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 12:01 am to 10 am; double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 8 am. Northbound left turning lane will be closed 1 hour prior to southbound closure. These closures are necessary to facilitate Google Pier 57 rehabilitation.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Vesey Street and Canal Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 9 am Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 11 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday and 11 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm Friday to 10 am Saturday and 10 pm Saturday to 10 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 9 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Canal Street and 14 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 11:59 am Saturday and 9 pm Saturday to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 1 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 10 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 11:59 am Saturday and Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 1 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 7 am Saturday and 3 am to 8 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between 42 Street and 50 Street

One northbound lane will be closed from 9 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 7 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 10 am Saturday and 12:01 am to 1 pm Sunday. Two northbound lanes will be closed from 12:01 am to 6 am Monday to Friday, 2 am to 8 am Saturday and 2 am to 10 am Sunday. One southbound lane will be closed from 8 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 8 pm Friday to 9 am Saturday and 8 pm Saturday to 11 am Sunday. Two southbound lanes will be closed from 11 pm to 6 am Monday to Friday, 12:01 am to 8 am Saturday and 1 am to 9 am Sunday. These lane closures are necessary through September 2019 to facilitate NYSDOT roadway rehabilitation work.

Route 9A/West Street (northbound/southbound) between Morris Street and Albany Street

Single-lane will be closed northbound Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, Saturday 1 am to 8 am, and Sunday 1 am to 9 am; double-lane will be closed northbound weeknights from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 7 am, and Sundays 2 am to 8 am; single-lane will be closed southbound Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and 11 pm to 5 am, Saturday from 2 am to 9 am, and Sunday from 2 am to 10 am; double-lane will be closed southbound weeknights from 1 am to 5 am, Saturday from 3 am to 8 am, and Sundays from 3 am to 9 am to facilitate installation of the West Thames Pedestrian Bridge fixtures by the NYC Economic Development Corp. through October 2019.

Henry Hudson Parkway Viaduct (between West 72 Street and West 82 Street; West 94 Street and West 98 Street)

Beginning Friday July 19, 2019 through November 2019, single-lane between 60 and 82 Streets will be closed in either direction Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 12 am. Double-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 5 am. Beginning Monday July 22, 2019, for approximately two weeks, Henry Hudson Parkway southbound off-ramp at 95 Street will be closed weeknights from 12:01 am to 5 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation and replacement of structural steel.

Henry Hudson Parkway (between George Washington Bridge and Henry Hudson Bridge)

One northbound lane will be closed weekdays from 9 am to 2 pm and 10 pm to 7 am, and weekends from 11 pm to 2 pm the next day. One southbound lane will be closed weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, 10 pm Friday night to 7 am Saturday, and 10 pm Saturday night to 2 pm Sunday. Two lanes either northbound or southbound will be closed Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 5 am, Saturday 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday 2 am to 9 am, to facilitate general repairs by MTA Bridges and Tunnels from May 14, 2018 to March 21, 2021.

Macombs Dam Viaduct between Harlem River Drive and Edgecombe Avenue

The viaduct will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 11 pm to 5 am next morning and from Friday 11:59 pm to Saturday 7 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge. During Yankee's home games, full closure will take place 3 hours after the end of game.

Harlem River Drive Service Road

Service road leading up to West 155th Street will be partially closed and parking along the service road adjacent to the Holcombe Rucker Park will be removed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm as part of the structural steel repair of the West 155 Street Viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge.

Harlem River Drive Service Road between Harlem River Drive Southbound Entrance Ramp and West 155 Street

This portion of the southbound service road will be fully closed from 7 am to 6 pm Monday, July 22, 2019 to Friday, July 26, 2019 and from 9 pm to 5 am Monday, July 22, 2019 to Saturday, July 27, 2019 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges steel repairs on the West 155th Street Viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem River. Motorists will be detoured onto the southbound Harlem River Drive.

West 155 Street between Frederick Douglass Boulevard (8th Avenue) and the Macombs Dam Bridge

Willie Mays Drive between West 155 Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard (7th Avenue): These streets will be closed from 7 am to 6 pm Monday, July 22, 2019 to Friday, July 26, 2019 and from 9 pm to 5 am Monday, July 22, 2019 to Saturday, July 27, 2019 to facilitate NYCDOT Bridges steel repairs on the West 155th Street Viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge over the Harlem River.

West 155 Street between Bradhurst Avenue and Harlem River Drive Service Road

These streets will be fully closed Monday to Friday from 9 pm to 5 am next morning and from Friday 10 pm to Saturday 7 am to facilitate long term NYCDOT Bridges structural steel repairs of the West 155th Street viaduct of the Macombs Dam Bridge.

Brooklyn Queens Expressway between Old Fulton Street and Joralemon Street

On the westbound Brooklyn Queens Expressway, single-lane will be closed from 12:01 am to 1 am. A double-lane will be closed from 1 am to 5 am to facilitate repairs on the expressway. This closure will occur one night a week on either Tuesday or Thursday.

Gowanus Expressway/Belt Parkway Interchange between 86th Street and 45th Street

One of three lanes in each direction may be closed Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm to facilitate NYSDOT long term roadway rehabilitation work.

Third Avenue between 54 Street and 5 Avenue/65 Street

One lane westbound is closed around-the clock on the inner roadway, and an additional lane may be closed from 8 pm to 2 pm Monday to Friday to facilitate NYSDOT long term work.

Union Street Bridge over Gowanus Canal

South side of the bridge will be closed and all traffic will be shifted to the north side of the bridge throughout the summer of 2019 to facilitate urgent repairs on the bridge. Eastbound cyclists will share the vehicle lane while westbound cyclists are advised to use alternate routes. Pedestrians will have access to the north walkway.

The southbound Henry Hudson Bridge will be fully closed nightly from 12:01 am to 5 am Monday through Saturday, May 31 to July 31 to facilitate the replacement of structural steel on the Henry Hudson Bridge by MTA-Bridges and Tunnels.

Madison Avenue Bridge over Harlem River

The bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5 am to facilitate rehabilitation of electrical and mechanical systems.

Bronx

East 163 Street Bridge between Brook Avenue and Melrose Avenue

Westbound on East 163 Street will be closed between Brook Avenue and Melrose Avenue; triangular area at the intersection north of East 163 Street and west of Brook Avenue will be closed to create a work zone and north sidewalk from this work zone will be closed with pedestrian being detoured along west side of Brook Avenue and south side of East 163 Street; approximately four parking spaces will be closed on the east curb of Brook Avenue and three parking spaces will be closed north curb of the work zone. These closures are to facilitate filling of the bridge over the abandoned CSX line.

Grand Concourse Parkway Bridge over East 174 Street

Grand Concourse north right mainline and shoulder lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm as part of the Component Rehabilitation of Ten Bridges Citywide Project (HBCR03A).

East 174 Street Bridge over Bronx River

The bridge will be fully closed for two weeknights between Monday and Saturday from 10 pm to 5 am to jack bridge onto temporary shoring.

Cross Bronx Expressway northbound (Exit 4)

Grand Concourse north right mainline and shoulder lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm as part of the Component Rehabilitation of Ten Bridges Citywide Project (HBCR03A).

Bruckner Expressway between RFK Bridge and Sheridan Expressway

Bruckner Expressway between RFK Bridge and Sheridan Expressway: Northbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 11 pm to Saturday 3 pm, Saturday 11 pm to Sunday 3 pm, and Sunday 10 pm to Monday 5 am; Southbound single-lane will be closed Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and from 10 pm to 5 am, Friday from 10 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday from 10 pm to Sunday 2 pm; Double-lane will be closed in either direction Tuesday 1 am to Friday 5 am, Saturday from 1 am to 6:30 am, and Sunday 2 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate deck replacement.

Major Deegan Expressway under the Cross Bronx Expressway

Close single-lane northbound Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday 11 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday 11 pm to Sunday 3 pm. Close single-lane southbound Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday 10 pm to Saturday 6:30 am, and Saturday 10 pm to Sunday 2 pm. These closures are necessary to facilitate rehabilitation of the Major Deegan Expressway and Cross Bronx Expressway interchange.

Hutchinson River Parkway Bridge

All lanes in single direction at a time will be closed from 11 pm to 5 am for repairs.

Shore Road Bridge over Hutchinson River

Double-lane will be closed weeknights in either direction from 11 pm to 5 am to facilitate bridge maintenance.

Third Avenue Bridge

The north roadway and north sidewalk will be closed and two-way traffic and pedestrian will be shifted to south side Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4:30 pm as part of Filling Five Bridges Over Abandoned CSX Line.

Unionport Road Bridge over Amtrak and CSX

Northbound of Unionport Bridge between White Plains Road and East Tremont Avenue will be closed 24/7 for approximately 6 weeks, beginning May 13, 2019, to facilitate bridge rehabilitation.

Queens

Van Wyck Expressway under the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge

(Northbound) Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to Saturday 12 pm, and Sat from 8 pm to Sunday 12 pm, double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 5:30 am, Sat from 1 am to 6 am, and Sun from 1 am to 7:30 am; (Southbound) Single-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 2 pm and from 11 pm to 5 am next morning, Friday from 9 pm to Saturday 3 pm, and Saturday from 8 pm to Sunday 3 pm, double-lane will be closed Monday to Friday from 12:01 am to 6 am, Saturday from 1 am to 5 am, and Sunday from 1 am to 9 am. These closures are necessary to facilitate reconstruction of the Roosevelt Avenue Bridge under contract HBQ1203.

150 Street Bridge over Cross Island Parkway

Sidewalk and right lane on the northbound of the bridge will be closed Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 6 pm as part of the Component Rehabilitation of Ten Bridges Citywide Project (HBCR03A).

Northern Boulevard Bridge over Flushing River

Single-lane westbound will be closed Monday to Friday from 10 pm to 5 am next morning and from 12:01 am to 8 am Saturday and Sunday as part of the Component Rehabilitation of Ten Bridges Citywide Project (HBCR03A).
