DOT Announces Retirement of Staten Island Borough Commissioner Tom Curitore
New York City Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan today announced that Staten Island Borough Commissioner Tom Curitore will be retiring from City service at the end of August. Curitore, who joined the Department of Transportation (DOT) in February 2006, is a native and life-long resident of Staten Island and has served the City for over 22 years.
“Tom's boundless energy and his commitment to the people of Staten Island have made him a tremendous asset to both me and the Agency,” said DOT Commissioner Sadik-Khan. “He has spearheaded some of our most important initiatives, including the Mayor's Transportation Task Force. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”
“It has been a privilege to serve the City of New York,” said Curitore. “I'm looking forward to my retirement but I hope the work we've accomplished through the Mayor's Transportation Task Force has improved the quality of life for everyone in the borough.”
Curitore began his career with the City in 1985 with the New York City Police Department. From there he moved to the Mayor's Community Assistance Unit where he served as the First Deputy Commissioner before joining DOT.
Tom Cocola, the current Deputy Borough Commissioner, will serve as the Acting Borough Commissioner.
