NYC DOT to Resurface Portions of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway as Citywide Seasonal Pothole Repairs Continue
Beginning today, two eastbound lanes will be closed between Humboldt St. and the Kosciuszko Bridge overnight through Saturday morning; westbound work to follow next week
As the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) continues to address roadway maintenance across the five boroughs following this active winter season, crews will be resurfacing key portions of the eastbound and westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE), providing a safer, smoother roadway for drivers. Beginning this evening, Monday, March 10, and continuing through Saturday morning, Saturday, March 15, two of three eastbound lanes between Humboldt Street and the Kosciuszko Bridge will be closed overnight from 9:00 p.m. through 5:00 a.m. This partial closure will allow for milling and paving of areas requiring maintenance. Work will be completed on the westbound portion between the Kosciuszko Bridge and Humboldt Street beginning on Monday evening, March 17, at 9:00 p.m. and continuing each night until 5:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22. During these projects, motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes.
This work marks the latest overnight maintenance effort along city highways as DOT roadway crews continue their seasonal pothole and street maintenance work as part of the response to this year’s record-setting winter. Already this year, DOT has addressed more than 197,815 potholes citywide, including more than 65,000 on arterials like the BQE.
