On the first three Saturdays in August between the hours of 7 am and 1 pm, nearly seven miles of New York City’s streets are open to the public to play, run, walk and bike.

Summer Streets is an annual celebration of New York City's most valuable public space—our streets. Summer Streets provides space for healthy recreation and encourages New Yorkers to use more sustainable forms of transportation. In 2018, nearly 300,000 people took advantage of the open streets.
Summer Streets Call for Proposals: May 1, 2020 (deadline)
Please join DOT Art and Event Programming in our efforts to activate Park Avenue and its connecting streets with unique, family-friendly programming (public art, performances and activities) as part of the thirteenth annual Summer Streets. All nonprofit organizations, artists and performers are invited to submit proposals in response to the Summer Streets Request for Proposals by Friday, May 1, 2020. Preference will be given to proposals promoting health and wellness, outdoor recreation, arts and culture and other relevant topics.
