HHC Coney Island Hospital Physician Receives Mastership by the American College of Physicians

Third physician at HHC Coney Island to receive ACP’s prestigious title

(Brooklyn, NY) Mr. Arthur Wagner, Executive Director of Coney Island Hospital of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC), announced today that the American College of Physicians (ACP) has bestowed its “Mastership” designation on Dr. Terence Brady, the hospital’s Associate Chief Medical Officer. According to the ACP, Masters are selected because of integrity, positions of honor, eminence in practice or in medical research, or other attainments in science or in the art of medicine, and are highly accomplished persons demonstrating eminence in practice, leadership, or in medical research.

Dr. Brady joins two other HHC Coney Island physicians who already hold this designation - Dr. John Maese, Chief Medical Officer and Dr. Paul Gitman of Quality Management. These three physicians are among 785 worldwide to hold this distinction of Masters by the ACP.

“I am honored to receive this national recognition by the American College of Physicians,” said Dr. Brady. “This designation recognizes individuals for their achievements and dedication to the field of medicine. I look forward to continuing to apply that same dedication to improving the care and experience of our patients and community at Coney Island Hospital.”

“It is an accomplishment for an individual to earn Mastership from the American College of Physicians, but for an institution to have three physicians earn this designation is remarkable,” said Mr. Wagner, who is also Senior Vice President of Southern Brooklyn and Staten Island Healthcare Network. “This recognition is one example of the many skilled and accomplished physicians we have at HHC Coney Island providing excellent care for our patients and community.”

“Dr. Brady is very deserving of such a high honor by the American College of Physicians,” said Dr. Maese. “Masters are recognized for excellence and for their significant contributions to medicine, and we are proud to have Dr. Brady’s service here at HHC Coney Island Hospital.”
