MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL RESTORING ORIGINAL NAMES
TO FOUR CONSECUTIVE BROOKLYN STREETS

Remarks by Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani at Public Hearing on Local Laws

The final bill before me is Introductory Number 647-B, sponsored by Council Member Henry. This legislation would restore the original names to four consecutive Brooklyn streets. The South Midwood Residents Association requested the restoration of these names to honor the history of their community.

Therefore, in recognition of the history of this Brooklyn community, East 21st Street will also be known as "Kenmore Place," East 22nd Street will also be known as "Elmore Place," East 23rd Street will also be known as "Delamere Place," and East 24th Street will also be known as "Mansfield Place."

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
