MAYOR GIULIANI KICKS OFF SECOND ANNUAL WINTER RESTAURANT WEEK

From January 29th Through February 2nd More Than 100 Restaurants Will Offer $20.01 Prix-Fixe Lunch Menus

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and President and Chief Executive Officer of NYC & Company Cristyne Lategano-Nicholas were joined today at City Hall by more than 20 of New York City's most renowned chefs to kick off Winter Restaurant Week 2001. The Mayor announced that beginning next Monday, January 29th, as part of the City's Paint the Town Red winter celebration, New Yorkers and visitors can enjoy prix--fixe, three course lunches for $20.01 -- beverage, tax and gratuity not included -- at more than 100 of New York City's top restaurants through Friday, February 2nd. Francois Payard, owner of Payard Patisserie and Bistro located at 1032 Lexington Avenue, presented Mayor Giuliani with a 50 pound chocolate bust of the Mayor to celebrate the occasion.

"Winter Restaurant Week 2001 will offer New Yorkers and visitors the opportunity to enjoy great food and fine dining at some of the top restaurants in New York City for just $20.01," said Mayor Giuliani. "Winter Restaurant Week 2001 will further promote New York City's restaurant industry, which helps draw more than 34 million visitors to our City each year. I encourage all New Yorkers to take advantage of this event in New York City, the Restaurant Capital of the World."

Mrs. Lategano-Nicholas said, "Winter Restaurant Week 2001 is one of the warmest weeks of the season. From January 29th through February 2nd, New York City's best restaurants will open their doors during lunchtime to share the quality, variety and hospitality for which they are famous - and all at the bargain price of $20.01."
