New York City Turns "Ravens Purple" this Evening as Conditions of
Bet are Met
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, sporting a Baltimore Ravens hat, today fulfilled the terms of his Super Bowl wager with Baltimore Mayor Martin O'Malley following the New York Giants' 34-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday at Super Bowl XXXV in Tampa, Florida.
As previously agreed upon, Mayor Giuliani is sending Mayor O'Malley:
In addition, the Baltimore Ravens flag, courtesy of Modell's Sports, will fly above City Hall during the day, while City Hall will turn "Ravens Purple" under the glow of purple lights this evening.
"It's not often that New York finds itself on the losing end, but when
we do, we always pay up," said Mayor Giuliani. "It is my pleasure,
in the sprit of good sportsmanship, to fulfill my end of the wager with Mayor
O'Malley. I hope he enjoys reading up on the history of our great City, while
drinking his Brooklyn Lager, and eating his knishes. On behalf of all New York
Giants fans, I want to thank the Giants for their hard work and effort this
past season, and wish them the best of luck next year."
