Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today presided over the 2001 New York City Public High School Distinguished Graduates awards. The ceremony honored 183 students nominated by their principals as the most accomplished in their class. In addition, seven students received the Mayor's Most Distinguished Graduate Award and a $250 scholarship provided by the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company.
"These students have done more than exhibit exemplary performance in the classroom," said Mayor Giuliani. "They have also made great contributions to their schools through extracurricular activities, and even greater contributions to their neighborhoods and City through community service. These graduates have won the admiration of their fellow students, teachers, and principals, and deserve the special recognition they receive today."

Education and Cultural Affairs; Schools Chancellor Harold Levy; Board of Education
President Ninfa Segarra; and Terry Nochese, Vice President, Pepsi-Cola Bottling
Company of New York City.
