The first bill before me today, Introductory Number 923, sponsored at my request by Council Members Moskowitz and Berman, would authorize the creation of a new Business Improvement District, known as a BID.
The East Mid-Manhattan BID established by this legislation will cover the vicinity of 49th to 63rd Streets between Madison and Second Avenues. The new district will help 397 property owners and 545 merchants to keep the area a clean, safe and attractive commercial environment.
For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
