MAYOR GIULIANI AND MAYOR LAND OF APOPKA, FLORIDA
PLACE FRIENDLY WAGER ON THE UNITED STATES
LITTLE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Rolando Paulino All-Stars To Challenge The Apopka Team

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today challenged Mayor John H. Land of the City of Apopka, Florida to a friendly wager on the outcome of the United States Little League Championship Game this Saturday, between the Bronx, NY team and the Apopka team in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The two teams will face off against each other for the United States Championship title, and for the opportunity to compete in the Little League World Series. The terms of the wager are as follows:

Should the Bronx team lose, Mayor Giuliani will:

Send a case of Nathan's World Famous hot dogs (240 hot dogs) along with a supply of buns and mustard. To many, Nathan's hot dogs are an integral part of the storied New York baseball tradition. Nathan's hot dogs are sold today in both Yankee Stadium, and at the new KeySpan Park, home of the Brooklyn Cyclones.

The Mayor will also send 12 dozen assorted bagels from H & H Bagels, considered by many to be the best bagels made in New York City and the country.

"The Baby Bombers are the talk of the town," the Mayor said. "All of New York is captivated by their skill, their team spirit and their love of the game. I am proud that this collection of fine young men is representing New York City at the United States Champion title game. I wish them good luck in their upcoming game."

Should the Apopka Team lose, Mayor Land will:

Send a case of their world famous Nelson's Florida Roses, an assortment of indoor plants, and a case of their delicious potatoes.

Apopka is known as the Indoor Foliage Capital of the World; the name of the City of Apopka comes from the Timucuan Indians, an American Indian tribe that once lived in Southern Florida. Apopka means, "big potato."

The Bronx team is only the fourth one from New York and the first from outside Staten Island to make it to the Little League World Series.
