MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES WORLD TRADE CENTER FAMILY MEMORIAL SERVICE

Interdenominational Memorial Service To Be Held on Sunday, October 28, 2001 at 2 PM


Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today announced that an interdenominational memorial service for family members of those who were lost in the September 11th attacks, will be held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, October 28th, 2001 at the site of the World Trade Center disaster. The World Trade Center Family Memorial Service is expected to last one hour and will be open only to family members. There is no rain date scheduled for the service.

The memorial service will take place at the World Trade Center site on Church Street between Vesey and Cortlandt Streets in Lower Manhattan. Families will be admitted to the event beginning at 12pm and they are advised to arrive early by 1pm. Entrances to the event are located on Broadway at Vesey Street and at Cortlandt Street.

Families who have not yet obtained tickets or need further information on the service should call 646-710-6245 (8 AM to 8 PM). Families of uniformed service personnel should call 646-710-6070 (8 AM to 8 PM). Families can also obtain tickets by visiting the Family Assistance Center located at Pier 94, 12th Avenue and 54th Street.

Transportation

The site is accessible via subway to the Fulton Street-Broadway/ Nassau Street Stop on the A-C-J-M-1-2-4-5 lines. Free parking and round trip bus service will be available for family members starting at 10:30 am from locations in all five boroughs:

The interdenominational service will include readings by religious leaders, as well as music and song.
