MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES ONE DAY MARKETPLACE TO ASSIST BUSINESSES
AFFECTED BY THE WORLD TRADE CENTER ATTACK

Forum Will Be A Free, One-Stop, Full-Service Event to Help Businesses Secure
Financing, Office Space and Business Assistance

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today announced that the New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC), on behalf of the City, will sponsor a Financing, Office Space & Business Assistance Marketplace to connect business owners affected by the World Trade Center attacks with organizations that can help them recover. Confirmed service providers include real estate and office suite companies, banks and non-profit lending institutions, utility companies, real estate and office supply matching services, pro bono lawyers, accountants and financial counselors as well as City, State, and Federal agencies, including the Small Business Administration.

The Marketplace will be held on Wednesday, November 7th between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Regent Wall Street Hotel, 55 Wall Street, between William and Hanover Streets.

"As New York City continues its recovery from the attacks of September 11th, we're committed to helping as many businesses as possible in their efforts to move forward," said Mayor Giuliani. "It is imperative that affected companies and non-profits get the kind of support they need to get back to the business of doing business in this City. This one-stop, full-service forum will provide them with the opportunity to receive the immediate assistance needed to achieve that goal."

The one-day Marketplace is free to the public and is designed to facilitate on-site meetings between the business community and service providers. Attendees will be able to meet with real estate brokers to identify appropriate space, arrange site visits, apply for loans, meet with City, State, and Federal organizations to learn more about government assistance programs, receive business support services, and meet with utility companies to arrange for telecommunications, power and Internet access.

"EDC's Marketplace will offer a comprehensive range of information and services, and provide one-stop shopping for companies with disaster-related needs," said Robert M. Harding, Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Finance. "I'm confident that those who attend will find valuable assistance and answers needed to rebuild and improve their businesses."

"It is appropriate that this event is being held in the heart of the financial capital of the world, and I'd like to thank the Regent Wall Street for graciously donating their space for this Marketplace," said EDC President Michael G. Carey. "As we recover from the events of September 11th, I'd also like to commend all those who are working to address the needs of our business community and begin the process of restoring Lower Manhattan."

Pre-registration for the Marketplace is strongly recommended. Companies can pre-register for priority appointments and receive the latest information and list of participating service providers at www.newyorkbiz.com/marketplace.
