FUNDING RESTORED FOR SANITATION SELF-HELP BULK DISPOSAL FACILITIES IN FOUR BOROUGHS

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty today restored the necessary funding to continue operations at all four Department of Sanitation self help bulk disposal- sites.

The sites, located in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, provide homeowners with a place to dispose of large bulk items, like furniture, household appliances and home renovation debris.

About 65,000 tons of bulk material are brought annually to the self help sites.

The four self help sites will continue to operate seven days a week from 10AM to 6PM at the following locations:

The Bronx: Farragut and Halleck Streets
Brooklyn: Bay 41st Street and Gravesend Bay
Queens: 31st Avenue and Flushing Bay
Staten Island:Muldoon Avenue and the West Shore Expressway
