The Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and Language Services promotes the interests and represents the needs of immigrants. In addition, the office supplies language-related services to immigrants and others with limited English language skills. The Office works with community-based partners to improve services to immigrants and increase their participation in New York's political, economic, social and cultural arenas.
"I am honored to continue serving the City of New York and assisting the Mayor to better serve the immigrant community," said Ms. Tang. "As a first generation immigrant myself, I am strongly committed to fulfilling the mission of this office."
In 1994, Ms. Tang served as Marketing Director for the City's Department of Business Services where she developed a comprehensive marketing plan for the agency, promoted initiatives to enhance services to the small business community and planned agency's participation in various community activities.
She also served as Policy Advisor and Director of Asian Affairs in the former Council President's office.
Ms. Tang holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University. She is fluent in Chinese and Spanish and is proficient in several other languages.
