MAYOR GIULIANI UNVEILS NY YANKEES WORLD SERIES TROPHY AT CITY HALL
Thanks City Workers for the Spectacular Ticker Tape Parade

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, joined by manager Joe Torre and hitting coach Chris Chambliss, unveiled the New York Yankees World Series Trophy at a City Hall ceremony today. The Mayor also thanked City employees and other parade participants for their roles in making the Yankees ticker tape parade both a triumphant and a safe event.

The ceremony was also attended by representatives from the various City agencies who collaborated in the unprecedented success of the parade.

"The Yankees can be described as a determined team that has the talent and energy to come back under any circumstances. They are a team that will always come out ahead and a team that represents the true spirit of New York City," said Mayor Giuliani. "I am proud to be honoring the thousands of City employees who collaborated on the incredible Ticker Tape parade. The Yankees are the World Series champions, but the champions of the City are the people that are standing here with me. These are the people who keep our neighborhoods safe and clean and the people who ensure that New York City continues to remain the capital of the world."

The trophy will be on exhibit at City Hall for the public to view, Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 4 PM and Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 7 PM. The trophy will be on display in the Rotunda for one week and will then be moved to a permanent viewing area in City Hall.
