MAYOR GIULIANI HONORED FOR IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN NEW YORK CITY AT ANNUAL JAMAICA HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER BALL

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani was honored tonight by the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for his efforts to improve the quality of life in New York City. The Mayor received the tribute from Jamaica Hospital's President Dr. David Rosen.

Mayor Giuliani said, "I am very honored to receive this wonderful award from such an outstanding and successful institution. Jamaica Hospital Medical Center has doubled the number of its employees and has quickly become one of Queens strongest economic engines, continually pumping millions of dollars back into the community. Today this medical center is an ever-expanding institution. I congratulate you for this impressive progress."

Dr. David Rosen said, "Mayor Giuliani, you have created an environment and a robust economy that allows institutions like ours to thrive. Your efforts to improve the quality of life in our City and to restore its reputation as a world capital, parallel our own efforts to reinvent this Hospital. We, too, have been successful in instilling discipline and responsibility, driven by a vision of what could be achieved."

This year's Rainbow Ball, celebrating the 105th anniversary of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, was held at the North Hills Country Club in Manhasset.
