MAYOR GIULIANI VISITS NEWEST NEW YORKERS
First Babies of the New Year Receive Yankee Uniforms

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today visited the newest New Yorkers who made their debut at the stroke of midnight on January 1 marking the arrival of 1997. The two babies, Franklin Lamboy and Christopher Gerald Paige, were born in different boroughs but both their births were clocked in at the stroke of 1997. One second past the stroke of twelve, Howard James Burnett was born at the New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. In a visit to the hospitals, the Mayor congratulated the proud parents and presented the infants with baby Yankee uniforms.

Franklin Lamboy was born to proud parents Luz Lamboy and Dary Santiago at Lincoln Hospital in The Bronx and weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces. Meanwhile, in Jamaica Hospital in Queens, Christopher Gerald Paige made his arrival measuring 20 inches long and weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Parents Mattie Brown and Alfred Paige are very proud of the youngest of their three children. Howard James Burnett, Jr. weighed in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 21 inches long. The proud parents are Nannette, a New York City school teacher and Howard, a New York City police officer.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I wish 1997's First Babies a long, healthy and prosperous life," said Mayor Giuliani. "I am proud to welcome them and extend the City's congratulations to their parents and family."
