"It is a pleasure to join all of you today in celebration of the 101st Anniversary of the Real Estate Board of New York," said Mayor Giuliani. "I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Board on this outstanding milestone. Very few organizations see their second century. This achievement really demonstrates the cohesiveness, the sense of purpose and the success of the Real Estate Board."
Mayor Giuliani said, "The success of our real estate industry is a very important part of our economy. In New York City, we have more than 18,500 real estate companies that employ 100,000 people and pay almost $3.5 million in salaries. The development of the Manhattan skyline, and the emergence of New York as one of the world's greatest real estate markets are remarkable."
"The Real Estate Board has been a true partner with the City in helping make New York all that we have become. The Real Estate Board understands that a city is not made solely of bricks and mortar, but is built by communities, with care. In the last decade the Real Estate Board Foundation raised over a million dollars for worthy causes, including major programs to assist teachers and to provide services for the homeless," the Mayor concluded.
REBNY is the industry's leading trade organization in the City. Its membership consists of over 4,000 leading property owners, developers, brokers, managers, senior executives of banks, pension funds and other institutions, architects, attorneys and the rest of the professional community involved in Manhattan realty.
