MAYOR GIULIANI CONGRATULATES THE PUERTO RICAN FAMILY INSTITUTE ON ITS 37TH ANNIVERSARY

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani tonight congratulated the Puerto Rican Family Institute (PRFI) at its anniversary celebration at the Plaza Hotel for its 37 years of providing social and health services to New York City's Latino community.

"Since it was founded in 1960, the Puerto Rican Family Institute has successfully provided much needed social and health services to New York City's Latino community," said Mayor Giuliani. "I want to thank the individuals and the corporations who contribute their skills and financial support to the Institute for sharing my administration's concern for our families and our children.

"I commend the Puerto Rican Family Foundation for helping maximize the Institute's resources by providing them invaluable support, including office space for their Manhattan-based operations and administrative offices," added the Mayor. "Together they bring hope to individuals in need, particularly our youngsters, by giving them access to services, such as mental health treatment, crisis intervention and education, all of which are crucial for a productive, fulfilling life."

During this year's gala, the PRFI honored Pfizer, Inc. with the Corporate Leadership Award. Other award recipients were;
