MAYOR GIULIANI APPOINTS BRUCE TEITELBAUM AS CHIEF OF STAFF

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today announced the appointment of Bruce J. Teitelbaum as his Chief of Staff.

Mr. Teitelbaum served as the Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Giuliani from January 1994 to September 1996 when he was promoted to Acting Chief of Staff. Prior to his work at City Hall, Mr. Teitelbaum practiced law in Manhattan.

Mayor Giuliani said, "As Chief of Staff, Bruce Teitelbaum will continue to have responsibility for ensuring that the Mayor's Office runs smoothly. Bruce has done an exceptional job as the Acting Chief of Staff and helped keep the myriad of activities well coordinated in the Mayor's Office. I have no doubt that he will continue to do a superb job as Chief of Staff."

Mr. Teitelbaum's unique organizational skills were put to the test early in the Administration when a van of Yeshiva students were fired upon while traveling on the Brooklyn Bridge in March of 1994. Bruce quickly informed and met with community leaders at City Hall and was instrumental in coordinating the City's response that maintained calm in the community.

Mr. Teitelbaum graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton with a double degree in Economics and History and graduated with honors from Brooklyn Law School.

A native of Brooklyn, Mr. Teitelbaum, 34, is married to Suri Kasirer of Manhattan. They currently reside on the Upper West Side.
