MAYOR GIULIANI PROCLAIMS SATURDAY JUNE 14TH EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CHILDREN'S PARADE DAY

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today proclaimed June 14, 1997 as Evangelical Christian Children's Parade Day in New York City. For forty years, the Evangelical Christian Children's Parade has emphasized the importance of encouraging young children to become involved in their community. The proclamation was presented to Evangelical Christian Children's Association Vice-President Reverend Ruben Diaz in a ceremony at City Hall.

"The Christian Children's Parade is one of the great parades in New York City," Mayor Giuliani said. "This parade reminds all of us that children must have strong moral and spiritual guidance to lead happy, healthy and productive lives. The parade is also a call to the community to encourage the values that strengthen our families. It is fitting that we recognize this parade which celebrates our future and our most precious resource, our children."

Children from more than 250 churches of all denominations will participate in the parade. This year the event will be on Saturday, June 14th along Third Avenue from 97th Street to 122nd Street and Park Avenue. The parade begins at noon.
