STATEMENT FROM DEPUTY MAYOR JOSEPH LHOTA IN RESPONSE TO PETER VALLONE'S REMARKS ON MAYORAL VETO

"Peter Vallone's personal attack on the Mayor's veto of a City Council campaign finance bill that would cost New York City taxpayers millions of dollars coincides with polls indicating that Vallone's campaign for Governor is in deep trouble.

It is a shame that the Council Speaker has chosen the low road of personal attack to try and boost his floundering campaign.

The Council Speaker's approach to campaign finance reform is a sham. It continues to encourage corporate contributions to political candidates. That's why the Mayor vetoed it. The Mayor's approach is to ban all corporate contributions. period. That represents real campaign finance reform."
