Pat Williams was born on May 16, 1936 in Santa Rosa, California. She married a career Air Force serviceman and traveled extensively until her husband was discharged and they settled in New York in 1974. After her arrival to New York, she adopted 12 foster children and became active in many organizations in her community.
Pat Williams became a tireless advocate for Concerned Citizens for a Safe Queens Village, and even used her home as an operational base station. She not only volunteered her time, but became an active fundraiser for the group. During her 15 years as a resident of Queens Village, she was a driving force for the betterment of her community. Tragically, Pat Williams died at an early age on June 16, 1990.
As a tribute to her efforts on behalf of all the people of Queens, it is fitting that this bill would add the name "Pat Williams Playground" to a triangle bounded by Hempstead Avenue, 224th Street and the Cross Island Parkway Service Road in Queens.
For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
