MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES THAT PRESS SECRETARY COLLEEN ROCHE HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Mayor Rudolph W Giuliani announced today that Colleen A. Roche, who has served as Press Secretary for the past four years, will leave the Giuliani Administration to accept a position as an Executive Vice President in the public relations firm of Linden Alschuler & Kaplan, Inc.

"Serving as Press Secretary for the Mayor of the media capital of the world is probably one of the most demanding jobs imaginable but, for four years, Colleen made it look easy," the Mayor said. "Her level of professionalism and tireless dedication impressed all of us who worked with her. On behalf of the Administration, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Colleen on her exciting new position, and thank her for her many years of distinguished service to the City of New York."

"Serving as Press Secretary to Mayor Giuliani has been the opportunity of a lifetime," said Ms. Roche. "For the past four years, I have worked for a man who has changed the face and the heart of this great city. I consider myself fortunate to have been part of this extraordinary team. And, while I will miss it more than words can ever express, I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead. I would like to thank Linden Alschuler & Kaplan for opening its doors to me for what will surely be an exciting new chapter in my career."

Linden Alschuler & Kaplan, Inc. is one of New York City's leading public relations firms, representing a wide range of clients in such diverse fields as real estate, finance, health care, public affairs, crisis management, philanthropy and not-for-profits. The firm is led by Lisa Linden, Steven Alschuler and Lloyd Kaplan.

Prior to her appointment to the Mayor's Office in March 1995, Ms. Roche served as Communications Director for the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and as Deputy Press Secretary to Manhattan District Attorney Robert M. Morgenthau. A classically trained violinist and an avid sports fan, Ms. Roche looks forward to spending more time with her family and to working on her backhand and jump shot.

Ms. Roche's resignation is effective April 23. Sunny Mindel has been appointed Acting Press Secretary. Ms. Mindel served as the Chief Spokesperson and Press Secretary for Mayor Giuliani's highly successful 1997 reelection campaign, and currently serves as the Press Secretary of the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management, under the direction of Jerome Hauer.
