Young Adult Borough Center (YABC) Program

The City's Young Adult Borough Centers (YABC) help overage and under-credited high school students get a high school diploma.

The centers offer evening programs to students who have some of the credits they need to graduate but might be considering dropping out because they are behind or they have adult responsibilities that make attending school in the daytime difficult.

To be eligible, the student must:

  • Be 17 to 21 years old (you must have turned 17 in the last school year completed)
  • Have a minimum of 17 credits that count toward high school graduation
  • Be in your fifth year (or more) of high school
  • Be enrolled in a New York City high school

Students earn a high school diploma from their high school once they have earned all of their credits and passed exams required for graduation at the YABC.

For more information and to find out if you are eligible, meet with your school's guidance counselor.
