About

Administrative and Support Services State
Electronic signatures are equal to paper signatures in New York State. The Electronics Signatures and Records Act (ESRA) guarantees this state-wide. All businesses are bound by this law. Businesses must accept electronic signatures.

Electronic records have the same legal force as paper, microfilm, and other records. Electronic signatures are equal to hand-written signatures on any document, contract, or receipt.

The New York State Office of Information Technology enforces ESRA.
