          If the application is found satisfactory, the applicant will receive an approved copy of the application.

            After receiving approval of the application by DEP, the user must obtain a permit to install the backflow prevention device from the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB).

            • 5

              After installation the backflow device must be tested by a New York State certified backflow tester. Please contact the New York State Department of Health for a list of certified testers by calling 518-402-7650 or send an email to h2ocert@health.state.ny.us or by visiting their website.
