Businesses that sell any domestic animals or fowl need a Slaughterhouse License from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Businesses can slaughter poultry and small animals, but not dogs or cats. Business can slaughter and prepare animals for individuals or hunters. Custom-cut meat cannot be resold.

Sanitary inspection results must be displayed at each entrance.
