State, Department of
Real estate appraisers and their assistants need licenses in New York State. These licenses are from the NYS Department of State (NYSDOS).
Appraisers assess the value of properties. Applicants must meet certain requirements. Four licenses exist:
- State Certified General,
- State Certified Residential,
- State Licensed Residential, and
- State Licensed Assistant.
